Red Rock Alameda and Moraga Summer 2024 Beach Program

Welcome to one of the Northern California's best beach programs!

Red Rock Alameda/Moraga Beach Volleyball provides comprehensive technical and tactical instruction in competitive beach volleyball.  With training locations in both Alameda and Moraga, we provide a great learning environments for any player, from a college prospect to someone brand new to the sand.

Our program begins late May and runs through the summer.  You don't need to be here all summer, but we ask for at least a 4 week commitment.

You do NOT need to have a partner to be part of our program, and your partner doesn't need to be at practice.  We do our best to pair players together.  Being part of a beach club allows you to practice and meet other players.

Many of our indoor players will play beach in the summer, but you don't need to be a Red Rock indoor player to join.

Our program is OPEN TO ALL PLAYERS through TRYOUTS AND EVALUATIONS

The best situation is to sign up for the FULL SUMMER PROGRAM, and come to as much as you can, however, if you know that there are times you'll be on vacation or travelling, we offer a pro-rated weekly program.

The weeks don't need to be consecutive, and it is a 4 week minimum.

CAL Beach Volleyball Biography

https://calbears.com/sports/womens-beach-volleyball/roster/liz-waters-leiga/21444

I want to emphasize in my coaching a good mindset about mistakes or bad games/ practices. I think it’s really important to be able to forgive yourself and accept good and bad performances as a growth opportunity. I think that’s a skill that will help you in life whether or not you pursue volleyball at the next level.

Gary Hodge

Club Director and Beach Coach

Gary is entering his 16th season of coaching collegiate and youth volleyball in the Bay area. His beach and indoor teams have enjoyed success on the local and national stages including multiple medal finishes at beach and indoor National Championships.

Entering his fourth season as the head coach of the St Mary’s College beach team, having spent the previous two years with the USF beach team. Under his leadership the Gaels have lost only one dual to an unranked opponent over the previous three seasons, and have had 10 All-WCC selections and one All-American.

Gary has been working with the 2020 U19 Girls’ National Beach Team for the past 3 years and in 2021, the team won the World Championships! He has a BCAP II certification through USAV, and has worked with the beach and indoor programs for over a decade.

Uses a primarily Constraints Led Approach which focuses on maintaining a solid perception-action coupling by using primarily external foci. This developmental process has been proven to maximize technical and tactical development simultaneously. It promotes player autonomy, leadership, and an environment where players can build strong relationships with their training peers. His coaching philosophy consists of 3 words; “Connect, Empower, Develop.”
